OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:
Instructional systems analysis involves the implementation of and adherence to a systematic design process for effective and efficient learning. This position will use an instructional systems design (ISD) model, a human performance improvement model, and provide instructional systems analysis support. In order to support the F/A-18 weapon system, the role of this position will be to review and provide informed recommendations for improving training products and project processes.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Conduct analyses to identify and validate training requirements and document results of analyses.
- Apply validated industry research to support learning decisions and collect foundational information from stakeholders before beginning the design process.
- Develop and recommend alternative training strategies to other designers’ in an HTML-based content management system.
- Design, develop, and implement instruction in a systematic manner. Select instructional media, materials, and equipment to meet learning objectives.
- Prepares and analyzes writing objectives, storyboards, instructor-led training materials and graphic requests for interactions.
- Apply SCORM and Section 508 standards to IMI products.
- Plan and accomplish production of instructional materials.
- Design, develop, and implement prototype and final courseware for interactive multi-media, computer-based, web-based, and distributed learning presentations.
- Evaluate training development and training effectiveness using formative and summative evaluation techniques.
- Provide inputs to a data base system for maintaining assigned training systems hardware, software, and courseware operational and currency status.
- Instruct client personnel on procedures, processes, and methods of operating, maintaining, revising, and enhancing the assigned training system.
- Use appropriate industry and Government standards and specifications.
REQUISITE SKILLS:
- Must have experience with conducting (end to end) Task and Media Analysis
- Must have experience producing a Training System Functional Description (TSFD) document
- Extensive knowledge using basic Microsoft Office products, as well as strong written, verbal and visual communications skills.
- Ensure procured products are instructionally-sound and based on instructional and (adult) learning theories
- Must have experience analyzing source documentation, writing storyboards, creating graphic requests for interactions, peer-reviewing other designers’ materials, and developing materials in HTML-based content management system(s)
- Working knowledge of the current SCORM and Section 508 standards and how the standards are applied in IMI products
- Work cooperatively with customers and contractors
- Organize and maintain folder and file structures
- Must reflect a solid work history with prior experience in the DoD training industry.
- Must possess or be able to acquire a Government Secret Security Clearance
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or a closely related field. Extensive industry-specific experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
