Navy Awards Education and Training Contracts
KAEGAN Corporation will continue to provide education and training support services for the Navy’s Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education Enterprise program. KAEGAN looks forward to supporting teammate Carley Corporation, one of the six prime contractors awarded IDIQs, announced August 22, 2008 by the Defense Department. These are IDIQ contracts awarded with a multi-year period of performance valued up to $256.1 million. It is anticipated task orders will be competed among the prime contractors. KAEGAN is very well positioned to provide the best possible support to both Carley and the NAVY given our successful past performance on education and training efforts.
Jose Acosta, KAEGAN Manpower and Training Specialist,
recognized by CO of USS New York
On March 1, 2008 the USS New York LPD-21 was christened in Avondale, LA as the Navy’s fifth ship in the LPD 17 San Antonio class of amphibious transport. USS New York's commissioning ceremony will occur in mid to late 2009 in New York City. The ship is named USS New York in honor of the city and victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. Mr. Acosta was honored by being requested by the Navy to be present during the ceremonies and had the privilege of presenting his original painting to the New York Commanding Officer, Cmdr. F. Curtis Jones <link to photo>. Mr. Acosta created a moving portrait to honor the victims of 911 in which doves represent souls of the victims soaring from the fallen debris and rising to the Heavens. Names of the victims are painted under the water surrounding the towers and within the towers. Additional victim names are painted within the Twin Towers within the Ship’s forward mast.
